Troopers Investigate Robbery of Dollar Store

Wilmington (19805)- Delaware State Police are currently investigating the armed robbery of a Wilmington area dollar store that occurred late last night.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred at approximately 10:16 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, as two male suspects confronted two employees of the Dollar General, located at 1402 E. Newport Pike, as they stood in front of the store. One of the suspects displayed an unknown make and model handgun, while the second displayed a knife and ordered both employees back into the store. The suspects then demanded cash from the store safe. The victims complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to them. One of the suspects then removed a cell phone from one of the victim’s purses before both suspects exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. There were no injuries.

One suspect was described as a black male 30-40 years of age. He was 6’01”-6’04” tall, weighed 230-250 lbs., had black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing  a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, black boots, and was wearing a mask. He was also armed with a handgun.

The second suspect was also described as a black male. He was 30-40 years of age, 5’04”-5’06” tall, weighed 140-150 lbs., had black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket, dark-colored jeans, dark shoes, was wearing a mask, and was armed with a knife.

There is no further physical or clothing description available for either suspect. No video surveillance photos are available to be released at this time.
