Troopers Make Arrest in Attempted Robbery – West Rehoboth

West Rehoboth The Delaware State Police have arrested a man in connection with an attempted armed robbery in West Rehoboth.

The preliminary investigation began when Troopers were called to Norwood Street, West Rehoboth, on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 12:23 a.m., for the report of an attempted robbery with a knife. The male victim, 24, of New Castle, advised arriving Troopers that he was approached by a male suspect as he was sitting in his vehicle which was parked on Norwood Street. The suspect displayed a box cutter type knife and demanded money from the victim. The victim fled the area in his vehicle without giving any money to the suspect.  Responding Troopers were provided with a description of the suspect and were able to take him into custody, on Norwood Street, without incident.

The defendant, Timothy Cannon, 37, of Rehoboth, was positively identified by the victim and transported to Troop 7 where he was subsequently charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $31,250 secured bond.
